Come join us for three days of fun playing with the art of Thai Bodywork. This ancient art form heals the body, opens and releases held tension and brings balance to the body, mind and spirit. This weekend will offer a 60 minute sequence with many original moves including restorative yoga postures. A practical knowledge of the eastern medical systems view of body constitution (Ayurvedic doshas) and how to treat clients accordingly will be discussed.
Thai Bodywork is done on a mat on the floor and works along the energy lines (Sen lines/Marma points) using a thumbing and palming technique. Compression and traction are incorporated with rhythmic rocking offering what I call “lazy mans yoga.” It's like doing yoga with none of the effort because someone is moving your body for you!
Restorative yoga uses props to support the body offering deeper release in the body and nervous system helping to manage overall energetic health and healing. Restorative yoga benefits and modifications for all body types and needs will be covered making this work accessible to everyone.
This training is for anyone who currently does Thai Bodywork but wants to go deeper into the work as a mind/body therapy. Yoga teachers who want to widen their scope and offerings to students, learn hands on assists as well as restorative postures. Massage therapists who want some new tools for treating clients and anyone interested in this healing art form. No experience in yoga or massage needed to join us. Participants need to be able to get up and down from the floor and be comfortable with touch. We will practice on each other throughout the weekend so plan on finding your own healing in the learning process!
