SEPTEMBER 15: INTRODUCTION TO SANSKRIT & THE YOGA OF SOUND

  • THE IVY YOGA SCHOOL The Ivy Yoga School (map)

Introduction to Sanskrit and the Yoga of Sound
with John Campbell, Ph.D.

“If one has knowledge of Sanskrit, then knowledge of yoga is possible as well.” Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois

Some knowledge of Sanskrit, "the language of the gods,” is essential for the study of Yoga. Just as the physical postures of āsana can energize and heal the body, mantras of Sanskrit can transform and purify one’s consciousness. In this workshop-style presentation, students learn the Sanskrit names of the poses with their underlying meanings, and are introduced to traditional Sanskrit chanting practices.
